Geckos are lizards that have adapted to climbing structure even upside down. In West Africa there are countless myths surrounding geckos which makes humans kill them on sight. They are considered to be very poisonous to the extent that if a person steps on a gecko, the person's leg will swell until the person dies. That if a gecko licks any food item that is then eaten by a person, the person will die, if a gecko falls in one's food and the food is eaten the person will die. It is also believed that, one has to kill geckos without the tails breaking in order to get blessing.
They are non venomous snakes found in the tropics. Some can grow very large and long. The longest snake in the world is a python, the reticulated python of Asia. In Ghana pythons longer than 4 metres have been recorded, these, even though non venomous can deliver very painful and nasty bites. For details on pythons click here
